2010...start your engines

hello ladies
Danskin 2010 will be here before you know it.
No excuses this year "oops I forgot to sign up in time".
Runners alley in manchester has agreed to give us "momsquad triathletes" a 10 % discount.
yipee. step one..get there...get good sneakers...attempt a run.
They are sending me discount cards so just let me know if you need one.
The danskin raises money for breast cancer research.
As a group I though maybe we could also try to raise money for a cause.
Im open to suggestions, maybe something that focuses on families with children in need.
anyway, start training. Commit to taking care of yourself. You will be a better woman, wife, mother and person for it. xoxoxo

danskin 2009

So we did it again!!!! Nikki, Ross and I were just crazy enough to do it again and we brought along 3 " newbies", Jade, Jen and Tracy. July 26th was the date. I really thought Id be less nervous this time. Nope!
This was a tougher year for Ross Nikki and I in our personal lives in terms of health issues and time challenges. Despite the lack of serious training we all finished. I was blown away by the amazing performances of our three 1st timers. I came this year feeling better about the swim, until of course I started swimming. Im simply not good at it and I tend to panick. I made it through the bike without walking up the giant hill this year and I even had a real bike helmet. I actually passed a few people (mostly old overweight people...but still). I found myself calling out to other women this year "keep going, you're doing great!!!!". I will do this again next year. I will take swim lessons. I will train harder. I will make myself more of a priority this year. I will drag all able-bodied women I know with me. I am proud of myself and my five beautiful friends.

Just Do IT!!

So, I just got back from our Florida trip. Two sick kids but beautiful weather. I forgot how great it feels to run outside. The 1st time EVER in my life running was last year in my Dads neighborhood in Florida. I ran 20 feet and walked and ran a little more. By the end of my trip I managed a mile and was so thrilled. As I ran this year, I looked back on that. I ran past the spots that last year I had to walk...and was pleased.
A few people I have talked to are on the fence about signing up ..."I dont have time to excercise". "Im not in shape". "I'll never be ready"...
Poppycock!!!!!! (I have never used that word in my life by the way)
I was a SLUG one year ago. Didnt really start running until April...didn't get on a bike until June...Never got in the water (mistake by the way, read my 1st blog)
I am by NO MEANS some crazy fitness guru now. I am a 2 mile on the treadmill kind of girl. i will struggle with the bike again and will definately take a swim class.
You can do this.
you should do this.
You are worth it

We are in the process of finding a night for a get together. Ross has bravely offered her home.
Happy running

Haven't started training yet?  Don't worry, we've got time.  I haven't started yet either.  But today is the day.  Register and get your body moving, it's a beautiful sunny day, so on lunch break, take a brisk 15 minute walk.  You'll feel refreshed and it'll encourage you to keep at it.

Be sure to check back here for tips and plans to meet up as a group to train.  Also, please feel free to share your comments with feedback or tips.  We'd love to hear them and share them with others.  We are after all, only amateurs!
